Community-Led Riparian Ecosystem Restoration — Kulmasa and Tuna
Location: Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Savannah Region
Partner: GEF-SGP OP8, implemented by UNDP
Duration: 18 months
- Community-led restoration of degraded riparian forest.
- Performance-based incentives for youth Ecosystem Restoration Stewards.
- Fuel-efficient cookstoves for 50 women.
- Pilot community fish pond aquaculture managed by 15–20 women.
- Community Riparian Management Committee and by-laws endorsed by the Traditional Council.
Track Record
Strategic study for the Black Volta Basin's economic, ecological and social transformation. Mercury-management training for artisanal miners and household waste management. Plastic-waste-to-fuel programme in Banda Nkwanta (approx. US$50,000 supported by GEF-SGP/UNDP).
Decision support using earth-observation data, affordable water harvesting projects, vulnerability mapping and equity-focused field hearings.
HIV awareness and alternative livelihood training, livelihood training in Atronie and Kantro, child-care support at Atronie St. Paul School, solar lamp projects in Wakawaka and Kiape.
Co-founded the EcoYouth Africa Initiative in 2010, bringing youth from Ghana, Senegal and beyond together around climate, with conferences in 2011 and 2016.
